1211 Avenue of the Americas
Location: New York NY Sector: Corporate Office, Re-Clad
KPF’s 1211 Avenue of the Americas project featured a re-clad, lobby renovation, and plaza enhancement for one of the iconic “XYZ” buildings in Midtown Manhattan. Housing several high profile tenants and featuring ground floor television studios, the project required exacting demolition and closely coordinated phasing to deliver a dramatic modernization to the international style building.
The ambitious re-clad, spanning the ground to 3rd floor, reduced solid portions of the wall by up to 30% to bring in more daylight to interior office spaces. The new high performance glazing system boasted 30’ tall units of double glazing that improved energy efficiency while harmoniously blending with the original facade above.
Providing a tenant amenity cafe, seating areas, and added greenery, the new Bauhaus inspired lobby design was phased and closely coordinated between building operations and construction teams to limit any disruption to tenants.
